Sutton Vane Associates were commissioned to light a newly refurbished car park in Blackpool. The façade was clad with glass panels, which required a design from SVA that created drama and excitement. The design focused on creating a scheme that linked to and celebrated Blackpool’s world-famous illuminations, breathing new life into a building that is otherwise disconnected and uninteresting to its surroundings.

Like its fast paced and ever-changing surroundings, SVA used multi colour linear striplights to wash the glass panels along the side and front of the car park in an assortment of colours. To help further reconnect the building to the town and add a sense of playfulness, the scheme can be controlled by the general public by sending a text to change the colour illumination. For example, by texting ‘red’ the car park turns red, or by texting ‘blue’ the car park turns blue.
