‘White Horse’, Mark Wallinger, 2013, British Council Collection. Copyright the artist, courtesy Anthony Reynolds Gallery.
We lit Mark Wallinger's sculpture and the supporting plinth on The Mall using energy saving LED light fittings.
The challenge was to pick out the sculpture from the well lit surrounding street and buildings and to ensure the levels and angles of light picked out the nuances of the form. Mark Wallinger explained the subtleties of line and their significance to the racehorse. It was important that these were visible and not washed out by the light. We spent some time with the artist making sure he was happy with the results.
