Junior Architectural Lighting Designer

We are looking for a Junior Architectural Lighting Designer to join our dynamic London based team. This rote is suited to someone with approximately one year of experience in a design-related environment and a strong interest in architectural lighting design.

Background & Experience

● Around 1 year of professional experience in a design role (lighting, architecture, interior design, product design, theatre lighting, or similar)

● A solid design sensibility and interest in how light interacts with architecture and space

● Some experience working within a studio or consultancy environment is preferred.

Software & Technical Skills

Experience with the following software is desirable (not all required) AutoCAD, DIALux evo (or Relux), Photoshop, SketchUp. And a willingness to learn new software and office standards.

Role & Responsibilities

Working alongside senior designers, the junior designer will support projects from concept through to delivery. Responsibilities include:

● Assisting in the development of architectural lighting schemes

● Modifying and updating lighting layouts and drawings

● Carrying out lighting calculations and studies

● Producing and updating 3D models for lighting concepts

● Creating visual and graphic material to communicate lighting intent

● Supporting the development of project proposals and presentations

● Researching luminaires, lighting technologies, and manufacturers, and developing a strong understanding of the lighting industry to support informed design decisions and long-term professional growth

● Attending site visits and aiming sessions (UK and international travel available)

● Collaborating with architects, interior designers, and electrical engineers, with support from senior staff

Studio & Working Pattern

● Studio located in Hammersmith, London

● Tuesday - Thursday in the office

● Monday & Friday optional work-from-home

● Flexible working arrangements considered

Salary

£23,000 – £27,000, dependent on experience and skills. Discretionary annual bonus available.
