The electricity sub station was an enormous eye-sore in Sheffield. Sheffield City Council commissioned Sutton Vane Associates to create a light art work to transform the structure. The building has large areas covered in glass planks and areas of solid concrete. First visuals were created to show the client the proposals, right. Then tests were carried out on the lighting of the glass to check that the proposed effects would work, photos below and below right.

The scheme has been a very successful piece of light art work and has transforming the appearance of the building. SVA were particularly proud with how accurately the initial visual reflected the finished scheme.
