Sutton Vane Associates designed the lighting for the World of Discoveries experience in Porto, which displays the journeys of the Portuguese explorers. Visitors pass by the themed areas in boats on a water route, so it was important to highlight the subjects in each zone to tell the story, with no glare or reflection. Special moving watery projections were used in the mouth of the Sea God to enhance the experience. The vivid colours in the exhibits were brought out using spotlights with high colour rendering and natural white light to simulate sunlight in some areas and moody darkness in other areas.
